Enterprise Develooment Institute (EDI) promoted in assistance of Government of India, Government of West Bengal & BNCCI has been registered on March 15, 1999 under the West Bengal Society Registration Act, 1961 as a non-profit training institute for strengthening entrepreneurship & MSME development activities. Its main working office is at IB 194, Sector Ill Salt Lake, Kolkata- 700106. EDI's present campus was constructed under Assistance to Training Institutions scheme of Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise, Government of India. The Institution has been conducting entrepreneurship development programs, entrepreneurship awareness camps, faculty development programs for entrepreneurship, small business management, capacity-building & skill-develooment programs for various target groups like unemployed youth, women, science & technology persons, managers & entrepreneurs in SME sector, members of self-help groups, minorities, including rural & urban poor. Central & State Government organizations have been sponsoring such shortterm training courses. For retiring defence personnel, EDI has been conducting certificate courses in entrepreneurship development & small business development, travel & tourism management, export-import management jointly with Directorate of Resettlement, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. MSME entrepreneurs are also given management inputs through specialized courses on Marketing, Export Import, Financial management, Retail Management, Travel & Tourism, Communication Skill Develooment, & Floriculture & Horticulture Business etc.
